Power of attorney (Tawkeel)

A tawkeel authorizes someone in Egypt to act on your behalf — property, banking, court, or general affairs — while you are in the US.

Who this is for: Egyptians in the US who need a trusted representative to handle matters back home.

Steps

1Decide the type (general or special) and exactly which powers to grant.
2Get the agent’s full name and national ID number.
3Prepare the tawkeel text — many missions provide a template.
4Appear in person to sign before the consul (identity check).
5Pay the fee, then send the authenticated tawkeel to your agent in Egypt.
